Editing, rewriting and rating comments

Every comment can be edited before it goes out. Rewrite gives you a fresh take, a shorter version, or a comment from your own notes.

1 min read

Allen writes a first draft. You decide what goes out.

Editing

Click into any comment on Today and change whatever you like, then press Post or Copy. Your edited version is what posts, and Allen saves the edit as a lesson in how you write.

Rewrite options

The Rewrite menu on each card offers:

  • Try again: a fresh comment on the same post.
  • Shorter: the same idea in fewer words.
  • From my notes: jot down the point you want to make, a fact to mention, or your angle, and Allen writes it in your voice.
  • Polish: tidy up a comment you wrote yourself.

You get 10 full rewrites a day across all comments. Shorter versions and polishes have a separate, more generous daily allowance. If you hit the limit, edit by hand or wait for tomorrow.

Rating

Thumbs up or thumbs down on each comment. Ten thumbs up unlocks a badge, but the real point is that Allen weighs your ratings when it writes the next batch.

Not relevant

If the post itself is wrong, not the comment, press Not relevant. Allen hides it and learns to avoid posts like it.

Undo

After a rewrite you can undo to get the first version back if you liked it better.
