Autopilot

Why Autopilot posted fewer comments than you asked for

Autopilot only posts on strong matches that pass its checks. On a quiet day that can be fewer than your daily number, or none.

1 min read

You set 10 a day and it posted 4. That is Autopilot working as designed.

The checks a post has to pass

Because nobody reads these before they go out, Autopilot is choosy. It only posts when:

  • The author is a strong match for your audience, not just a loose one.
  • The post is fresh, within the past week.
  • The post has enough substance to respond to, not a one-liner or a link drop.
  • The post is not already buried under hundreds of comments.
  • The post is not a job ad, poll, political post, or personal news.
  • You have not commented on that author recently.

Everything that fails is left for you on Today, where you can post it by hand if you disagree.

Other reasons for a short day

  • First two weeks: new accounts are held to 5 a day.
  • Posting hours: a comment that cannot post within a few hours of its slot is dropped rather than posted late, so very short posting windows lose comments.
  • Author turned off comments, or deleted the post, between the morning search and the posting time.
  • Out of credits, LinkedIn disconnected, or a failed payment. Autopilot pauses and emails you.

Getting closer to your number

Widen job titles, add a second audience, include your watchlist, or search internationally. Volume follows how many of your buyers are posting that day, and Allen will not pad the number with weak matches.
