Where the posts Allen shows me come from

Public LinkedIn posts, supplied by third-party data providers. Allen never reads LinkedIn through your account or your browser.

The short version

The posts on your Today page are public LinkedIn posts. Allen buys access to them from companies whose business is gathering public web data, the same way many sales and research tools do. Our Terms say so plainly.

What that means for you

  • Nothing is pulled through your LinkedIn account. Your connection is used for one thing only: posting the comments and posts you approved.
  • Your login and cookies are never involved.
  • If you disconnect LinkedIn, Allen can still show you posts; it just cannot post for you.

Author information

To check that an author matches your audience, Allen looks at their public profile headline and, if you set a target country, their public location. That is the same information anyone sees on LinkedIn.

Reply detection

To find replies to your comments, Allen looks at the public comment thread under the post. Again, nothing goes through your account.

Your own posts

For Analytics on your posts and for Engaged with you, Allen looks at the public reactions and comments on posts you published.
