Setup guide: accountants, CPAs and bookkeepers

Small-business owners post about cash flow, not tax prep. Owner titles, problem keywords, peer skip lists, sample comments and the first DM for an accountant.

Who you are reaching

Owners of the kind of business you serve. The most common mistake accountants make in Allen is keywords like "tax planning", which find other accountants. Your buyers post about the problem, not the service.

Prospects settings

  • Their Job Titles: Owner, Founder, CEO, Managing Partner, Practice Owner, President. Add the vertical if you have one: Dentist, Contractor, Restaurant Owner, Agency Owner, Physician.
  • Their Industries: the verticals you serve, for ranking.
  • Words to Watch For: cash flow, bookkeeping headache, tax season, hiring my first employee, selling my business, profit margin, payroll, QuickBooks mess, quarterly taxes.
  • People to Skip: Accountant, CPA, Bookkeeper, Tax Advisor, Tax Preparer, Fractional CFO, Enrolled Agent.
  • Words to Skip: IRS update, CPE, tax law change (unless commenting on news is your style).
  • Target Country: set it. Tax is local.

Train Allen

Bio: who you serve, what you do for them, how you talk. Rules: "never give specific tax advice", "never say you should", "frame as what I see with clients", "never mention our firm or services". Goal: add insight. Length: short.

Sample comments

On a contractor posting that they had a great year on paper but no cash in the bank:

  • Add insight: "Profitable and broke is the most common pattern I see in trades. The money is sitting in receivables and in jobs that were invoiced late. The fix is usually invoicing on milestones instead of completion, not cutting costs."
  • Ask a question: "How long between finishing a job and the invoice going out? Most of the time the answer is two to three weeks, and that gap is the whole problem."
  • Share an example: "A client of mine in roofing had the same year. We found forty thousand in finished jobs nobody had billed. Not fraud, just nobody's job. A Friday invoicing hour fixed it."

Autopilot

Five a day, weekdays. Keep it running through tax season; that is when your buyers are posting about money.

Watchlist

Current clients (stay visible, catch the ones about to have a problem), referral sources like bankers and lawyers, and fifty owners in your vertical you would like as clients.

The first DM

"Thanks for the reply on the cash flow post. The milestone-invoicing change is the one I would make first. If you want, I can send the one-page invoicing cadence we give clients; no engagement, just useful." The engagement follows the usefulness.
