Autopilot settings that work: 3, 5 or 10, which days, which hours
What to set and why. Five a day on weekdays is the default for a reason; here is when to go higher or lower, and what to do with posting hours and the watchlist mix.

Comments a day
- 5 is the default and the right answer for most people. It is enough to be seen every day without feeling like a campaign.
- 3 suits someone with a narrow audience or a quiet industry, or anyone who wants to read every comment closely for a while. It is also the natural setting on the Basic plan.
- 10 suits a big audience with lots of daily posts, or someone whose whole job is pipeline. Only pick it once the comments reliably sound like you; ten off-key comments a day is worse than three good ones.
Whatever you set, the first 14 days are held to 5, and Autopilot will post fewer on a day when fewer posts pass its checks. The number is a ceiling.
Days
Weekdays. LinkedIn is quiet at weekends and comments posted then reach fewer people. If you are on Basic, pick Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; they are the busiest days.
Search time and posting hours
Leave the default search time early in your morning so Allen catches posts while they are fresh. Leave the default two posting windows unless you have a reason: they put your comments in mid-morning and mid-afternoon, when people are on LinkedIn. If you set your own hours, keep the window at least a couple of hours long; comments that cannot post within a few hours of their slot are dropped rather than posted late.
Time zone
Check it once on the Autopilot page. Everything from the schedule to your streak depends on it.
Audience mix
Tick every audience you want Autopilot to use, and tick My watchlist. If you only want to reach named people, untick the audiences and leave only the watchlist. If one audience keeps producing weak posts, untick it and fix it under Prospects before turning it back on.
Tone mix
Under Train Allen, set How Allen responds so the day's comments vary: some add insight, some ask a question, some agree and build. Ten comments that all ask a question look like a pattern. A mix looks like a person.
When to pause
Holidays. Not slow weeks. The accounts that get results are the ones that keep running through the slow weeks, because recognition compounds and restarting from zero costs you the compounding.
