Does Allen send the DM for me? Or is "Allen comments" a message?

Allen posts comments on other people's posts, publicly, not messages. When someone replies to your comment, Allen drafts a DM in your voice and puts it in your Pipeline. You copy it and send it on LinkedIn yourself. LinkedIn does not allow tools to send messages or connection requests, and Allen is built to stay inside that rule.

Do I have to approve every comment before it posts?

No, unless you want to. With Autopilot on, Allen emails you the day's plan before anything posts, and you can edit or remove any comment. If you would rather approve each one, leave Autopilot off and post from your Today page.

Onboarding takes about five minutes and ends with real posts and comments written in your voice. Connecting LinkedIn is thirty seconds. Pasting a few example comments into Train Allen is the one thing worth another ten minutes, because it changes the output more than anything else.

How many comments a day should I set?

Five on weekdays for most people. Three if your audience is narrow or you want to read everything closely. Ten only once the comments reliably sound like you. The number is a ceiling, and the first 14 days are held to five.

How long before I know if Allen is working?

Give it twenty weekdays. Week one is about the comments sounding like you, week two brings the first replies, and weeks three and four are when repeated names turn into conversations. Zero replies by week three almost always means the audience is wrong, not the comments.

What do I actually have to do each day?

About ten minutes. Read the morning email and remove anything you would not say, send the drafted DM the same day anyone replies, and rate a few comments in the evening. Allen does the finding, writing and posting.

It helps but it is optional. Comments reach people who do not follow you; a recent post on your profile gives them somewhere to land. One post a week from the Posts page is plenty, and the Engaged with you tab shows you who it brought in.

Use the closest guide for the shape of your sale: B2B sales if you sell to companies, professional services if you are a licensed expert, freelancers if you are solo, agencies if you sell a service on retainer. The settings transfer; swap in your own buyer's titles and problems. Then book a setup call and we will tune it with you.

What should I say when someone replies to my comment?

Refer to the thread, give something useful, and make the no easy. Allen drafts this for you in Pipeline. The DM templates guide has eight short patterns for the first message, follow-ups, booking a call, and after the call.

How does Allen know whose posts to comment on?

Accepted Answer

You tell it under Prospects. Job titles decide whose posts Allen searches for. Keywords rank them. A target country, industries and skip lists trim the rest. Allen suggests a starting audience from a sentence about your business, and you edit it until it is right.

Can I filter to only people in the US (or another country)?

Yes. Under Prospects, set Target Country. Allen then checks each author's real location and only shows people based there. International shows posts from everywhere.

The daily search keeps showing people from the wrong industry. Why?

Almost always because the job titles are too broad or empty, or the keywords describe what you sell rather than what your buyers talk about. Tighten the job titles to what a real customer puts on LinkedIn, add the wrong people to People to Skip, and rewrite keywords as your buyer's problems. Then run a search with "talking about anything".

Can I target very specific people, not just a type?

Yes, with the watchlist. Add named people on the Connections page, upload your LinkedIn connections as a CSV, or add anyone from their profile with the Chrome extension. Allen checks their posts on every run, and Autopilot can comment only on watched people if you want.

How many keywords should I use?

Accepted Answer

You can save up to 10. Three to six good ones beat ten vague ones. Pick phrases your buyers would actually type, like "time to hire" rather than "recruiting". You can also search without keywords by choosing an audience "talking about anything".

Can I have more than one audience?

Yes. Create a separate audience for each kind of buyer or partner under Prospects. Each search lets you pick which one to use, and Autopilot can comment on any audiences you tick.

How do I stop Allen commenting on my competitors?

Add their job titles to People to Skip under Prospects, for example "Bookkeeper" if you sell bookkeeping. Add their product names to Words to Skip. Allen also strips your own category from keywords so you are not searching for yourself.

Yes, if you turn on "Company and news pages" for an audience under Prospects. Allen adds a handful per search. Autopilot never comments on company pages; those wait on Today for you to post by hand.

Can Allen post or comment as my company page instead of me?

No. Allen works from your personal LinkedIn profile only. People reply to people, and a comment from a company page reads as an ad. The approach that grows a company page is one or two real people commenting in their own names.

Will Allen comment on the same person over and over?

No. Allen remembers who you have commented on recently and skips their new posts for a while, so you never look like you are following one person around. Watchlist people are the exception: you asked to be seen by them.

No. Allen only looks at posts from the past week, and Autopilot prefers the freshest. A comment on a week-old post reaches nobody and reads as automation.

Will the comments sound like me, or like AI?

They sound like you to the degree you teach Allen. Paste three to five comments you actually wrote into Train Allen, add rules like "never start with Great post", and rate the first batch. Most people say it sounds like them within the first week. You can also edit any comment before it goes out.

The comments claim expertise or experience I don't have. How do I stop that?

Give Allen a fuller bio so it stops filling gaps with generic expertise, set your comment goal to asking a question or supporting the author, and add a rule like "never claim first-hand experience". Rewriting from your own notes always produces a comment that is genuinely yours.

Can I edit a comment before it posts?

Always. On Today, click into the comment and change it, then Post or Copy. On Autopilot, click the pencil next to any scheduled comment, or use Edit this one in the morning email. Edits teach Allen your voice.

How many times can I rewrite a comment?

You get 10 full rewrites a day across all comments, plus a separate daily allowance for shorter versions and polishes. Rewrites do not use credits. If you hit the limit, edit by hand.

Yes. Set your usual length under Train Allen, Style. For a single comment, use Shorter in the Rewrite menu on Today.

Yes. Add rules under Train Allen. "Never use emojis", "no exclamation points", "never say leverage". Rules apply to every comment and every DM draft.

Does Allen write in languages other than English?

Allen writes in the language of your examples and rules. Add a rule like "always write in Spanish" and give Spanish examples. Post discovery works best in English today because most LinkedIn posts are in English, but it finds posts in other languages too.

Allen refuses to write on spam, gibberish, offensive or empty posts. It recommends skipping posts with too little substance for a comment worth posting, like a one-liner or a link drop, but still writes one in case you disagree.

They tell Allen which comments landed. Allen weighs your ratings when it writes the next batch. Ten thumbs up and fifty total ratings each unlock a badge, but the point is better comments.

How do I edit a comment that is queued in Autopilot? I don't see a pencil.

On the Autopilot page, each comment that has not posted yet shows a small pencil icon next to its text. Click it to edit and save. The pencil only appears on comments still scheduled; once one has posted it opens on LinkedIn instead. The quickest route is Edit this one in the morning email, which opens that comment with the edit box already open.

By default, mid-morning and mid-afternoon in your time zone, with comments five to eight minutes apart. You can set your own posting hours and search time on the Autopilot page.

Yes. Tap the days under Days Allen comments on the Autopilot page. Weekdays is the default. Basic plan customers usually pick three days.

Autopilot only posts on strong matches that pass its checks: fresh, substantial posts from people who clearly fit your audience. On a quiet day that can be fewer than your number. New accounts are also held to 5 a day for the first two weeks. Everything that did not pass is on Today for you to post by hand.

I got "Nothing to post today". What does that mean?

Allen searched and found no posts that passed Autopilot's checks. Usually the audience is narrow or the topic was quiet. Run a search on Today with "talking about anything" to see what is out there, and widen your job titles if it keeps happening.

How do I pause Autopilot for a holiday?

Press Pause on the Autopilot page. No new runs start until you resume; today's scheduled comments still go out. Turning it off instead also cancels today's queue. Your settings and training are kept either way.

Autopilot paused by itself. Why?

Accepted Answer

It pauses when your LinkedIn connection expires, when several comments in a row fail to post, when you run out of credits, or when a payment fails. The email it sends says which. Fix the cause, then turn it back on.

Yes, each morning run uses credits from your monthly pool, the same as a search you start yourself. Professional's pool covers every weekday with room to spare. Basic covers three days a week.

Allen acts through LinkedIn's official API, with a permission you grant on LinkedIn's own sign-in page. No password, no browser bot, nothing read through your account. It posts a small number a day that you choose, minutes apart, in your voice, and shows you everything first. That is not the pattern LinkedIn's policies describe as unauthorized automation. We will not promise what LinkedIn will or will not do, because nobody honestly can. We will tell you exactly what Allen does, and you can leave Autopilot off and post by hand if you prefer.

Allen uses LinkedIn's official developer API and the posting permission LinkedIn issues to apps for exactly this purpose, granted by you on LinkedIn's own consent screen. Allen is not affiliated with or endorsed by LinkedIn, and no third-party tool is.

Do I need LinkedIn Premium or Sales Navigator?

No. A free LinkedIn account is all Allen needs. Your LinkedIn plan has no effect on which posts Allen finds or on posting comments.

Does Allen log in to my LinkedIn account?

Never. You sign in on LinkedIn's own page and LinkedIn hands Allen a limited posting permission. Allen never sees your password, never uses your cookies, and never reads your messages, connections or feed.

Why do I have to reconnect LinkedIn every two months?

LinkedIn's posting permission lasts about 60 days and LinkedIn does not let apps extend it quietly. Allen emails you a week before it expires. Reconnecting from Settings, Integrations takes thirty seconds and nothing else is lost.

Does Allen send connection requests?

No. The LinkedIn API does not allow it, and Allen does not work around that. Allen drafts connection notes and DMs in your Pipeline for you to send yourself.

I run HeyReach (or Waalaxy, Expandi, Dripify). Will Allen help or hurt?

They do not conflict technically: Allen does comments through the official API, those tools do connection requests and messages through your browser session. Sequencing helps: comment with Allen for two weeks, then send the request to a name they recognize. The risk to your account comes from the volume tool, not from Allen, so keep its daily numbers low.

How do I stop Allen from posting anything, right now?

Disconnect LinkedIn under Settings, Integrations. All posting stops that instant and Autopilot pauses. You can also remove Allen under LinkedIn's Settings, Data privacy, Permitted services.

Can I run Allen on a client's or my boss's LinkedIn account?

Only with their explicit permission, and they have to sign in on LinkedIn's page to connect it. The right setup is a Team workspace: they connect their own LinkedIn and train their own voice, and you review comments before they post. Allen never asks for anyone's password.
