Finding the right posts

Choosing keywords that bring in the right posts

Keywords should be what your buyers talk about, not what you sell. Examples, limits, and the words-to-skip list.

Keywords live under Prospects as Words to Watch For. You can save up to 10.

Pick what your buyers talk about

The most common mistake is listing what you sell. A CPA who adds "tax preparation" will find other accountants posting about tax preparation. The buyers, business owners, post about "cash flow", "hiring my first employee", or "selling my business". Think about the problem your buyer has on a Tuesday afternoon and use those words.

Two or three words beat one

"Recruiting" matches everything. "Time to hire" or "candidate ghosting" matches posts you can actually say something about.

Allen suggests keywords

When you generate an audience, Allen proposes keywords and shows them as chips. Tick the ones that fit. On Today, the search picker also offers suggestions you have not saved yet.

Words to Skip

Add topics you never want to touch. People often skip politics, religion, "we're hiring" posts, and their own competitors' product names. Allen already avoids political posts and job ads on Autopilot, but Words to Skip applies everywhere.

Searching without keywords

You do not have to use keywords at all. Choosing an audience "talking about anything" finds your buyers' newest posts whatever the subject. If your buyers rarely post about your topic, this is usually the better search.
