Switching between Get leads, Grow my audience, and Both
Your goal decides which posts Allen picks and how it writes the comment. Change it any time on the Autopilot page under What you want from Allen.

Allen can work toward one of two things: conversations with likely customers, or being seen by more of the right people. You pick, and you can change your mind whenever you like.
Where the switch is
- Open Autopilot in the sidebar.
- Find the card called What you want from Allen.
- Choose Get leads, Grow my audience, or Both. It saves on its own.
The change applies to every search from then on, not only Autopilot. Comments already written on your Today page keep the goal they were written with; the next search uses the new one.
You are also asked this during onboarding, so most accounts already have a goal set.
What each one does
- Get leads: the author of the post is the target. Allen looks for posts written by people who match your audience under Prospects, ranks them by how well the author fits, and writes a comment that person would want to answer. This is the goal most people start with.
- Grow my audience: the readers of the post are the target. Allen looks for the busiest posts on your topics, the ones with real engagement and plenty of fresh readers, and writes a comment that stands on its own for someone who has never heard of you. Posts kept this way are labelled on your Today page so you can see why they were picked.
- Both: mostly leads, with a few high-reach posts mixed into each day. Roughly seven in ten comments go to likely customers and three go to busy posts.
Which to pick
- You sell something and want replies: Get leads.
- You are building a following, a newsletter, a podcast, or a personal brand first: Grow my audience.
- You want pipeline but your industry is quiet on LinkedIn, or you want to be recognised before you are approached: Both.
Switching from Grow my audience to Get leads is the most common move once someone has a following and wants it to turn into conversations. The reverse, from leads to audience, is useful for a launch month.
What changes when you switch to Get leads
- Allen stops hunting for busy posts and goes back to your audience's posts, so make sure the job titles under Prospects describe your real buyers.
- Reply alerts, drafted DMs and the Pipeline matter more, because the point is now the conversation.
- Expect fewer likes on your comments and more replies.
What changes when you switch to Grow my audience
- Allen ranks by reach instead of customer fit, so you will see busy posts from well-known people in your space rather than from prospects. It still drops authors who clearly are not in your world, and it keeps peers and competitors, because their readers are your readers.
- Your topics under Prospects matter more than your job titles.
- Expect more profile views and follows, fewer direct replies.
If you do not see the card
The goal setting is being rolled out gradually. If your Autopilot page has no What you want from Allen card, your account is on the standard Get leads setup. Email support@tryallen.ai and we will switch it on for you.
